FOUNDATION LILIS YOUTH GIRLS
Transformation into Confident Women
Why girls?
Today, we live in a society where young girls do not receive the right tools to be successful and stand mentally and physically strong. While it's a fact that girls consistently outperform boys academically, an increase in emotional stress, anxiety, and depression is evident. Our girls, who are meant to grow into successful women, face pressure on how to navigate society. They are entering a world without the necessary skills to overcome disappointments and lead a valuable life.
Our Mission:
FOUNDATION LILIS YOUTH GIRLS is an organization dedicated to contributing to the development of girls into confident, stable, and successful women. We aim to bring about social change among girls, regardless of their class, religion, or ethnicity, by fostering collaboration. Encouraging young girls to believe they can overcome obstacles empowers them to tackle future challenges effectively. Through participation in our programs, each young girl is empowered to express and appreciate herself, taking a step closer to achieving her goals.
Focus:
The programs are designed for all girls aged 13 to 19, whether attending school or not, including teen mothers and girls with disabilities.
Goal:
Bringing young women together means building strong bonds, enabling them to grow up feeling stable, strong, and secure. The primary goal is not only to encourage them to strive for higher goals but also to teach them skills to develop a new mindset of self-worth, guiding them to become the best version of themselves.
Our goal is to motivate girls by introducing in our movement:
- The importance of sisterhood
- Recognition of their essence
- Building their self-respect and self-esteem
- Tools for success
Projects are delivered through interactive and creative activities that are not only enjoyable but also recognizable, inspiring, and educational.
Our Projects:
October 2022: B.A.B.E. Pop-up Shop
In collaboration with The Coffee Box and Pink Ribbon Suriname, we organized a Pop-up shop for Breast Cancer Awareness month. The goal was to raise awareness of breast cancer and sell our B.A.B.E. merch, with a portion of the proceeds going to Pink Ribbon Suriname.
March 2023: Women’s Day Makeover
We provided inside-out makeovers to 5 young ladies facing challenging home circumstances, one of whom has a special disease. During this day, our focus was on motivation, boosting their self-confidence, and giving them a beautiful makeover. We collaborated with Courtyard by Marriott Paramaribo and Courtyard Children’s Foundation.
May 2023: “Moederloos op Moederdag”.
In honor of Mother's Day, we conducted a project for young ladies without mothers on Mother's Day, called "Motherless on Mother's Day." We had a conversation with the ladies about their experiences as motherless children, broadcasted on TV. Additionally, we pampered the ladies with a complete makeover, including makeup and hair, and gave them a Lili’s dress.
May 2023 to present: Women’s Tribe in collaboration with The Talk
In partnership with the talk show "The Talk," we produce a television program called Women’s Tribe. The show discusses social and societal topics among women, such as mental health, motherhood, and balancing motherhood with a career. These episodes are broadcasted monthly on ATV Suriname and our YouTube channel, aiming to motivate women to express their feelings and talk about their struggles.
June 2023: Give Back to Women on the Street
The project "Give Back to People on the Street" involves engaging in short conversations with female street/market vendors and supporting them with a gift/package. This is also broadcasted on television and our social media channels with the goal of inspiring others to give back.
September 2023: Lili's Foundation presents: Be Accomplished, Be Excellent Day Camp
Within the Lili’s Foundation community, we created B.A.B.E. merch to inspire women that they can achieve anything. B.A.B.E. stands for Be Accomplished, Be Excellent. The goal is a super fun summer day camp for young ladies aged 14-18, featuring interactive inner and outer beauty sessions to encourage self-confidence and becoming a better version of themselves. The sessions are facilitated by:
- Gwamu: How to bring joy as a teenager.
- Olivia Samuel: The importance of healthy living
- Farisha Tjin Asjoe: Catwalk and pageant
- Ennely Dahan: Her TikTok growth experience
